Young Thai talent has what it takes

Singer-songwriter Ball Jaruluk Chayakul was born in America but developed his musical skills while growing up here in Thailand. The 24-year-old wrote his first song when he was just 17, and now he's making his showbiz dreams come true with his debut album, From Now On, on the Smallroom label.

The record is an catchy treat that mixes pop, R&B, jazz, soul and old-school hip-hop. The track "Pid Pai Laew (Mistake)" is a great example of this eclectic mix, featuring young rapper Brain BK1.

Ball was involved in every step of making this record - from composing the melodies to writing lyrics to singing and playing piano. The final outcome of all that work is an album that smoothly and naturally encapsulates Ball's talent.

From Now On is a good first effort by an artist who we're sure to hear more quality music from in the future. - VH
