Ferocious fire
Firefighters battle a blaze near Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway in Klong Toey district of Bangkok on October 19. The fire erupted at about 6 pm and rapidly engulfed more than 50 houses. There were no reports of deaths.

Three couriers arrested
Police on October 20 arrested three men caught with 194,000 methamphetamine pills. They tried to flee a checkpoint in Chiang Rai’s Mae Chan district.
Police said Kriangkrai Chaiyawong, 21, Charn Suwannampon, 44, and Adul Wannason, 48, were finally stopped after driving away from a checkpoint at a junction of Ban Tha Khao Pluek in Mae Chan.
Police searched their car and found the drugs hidden in a sack. The suspects said they had been hired for 30,000 baht each to Ban Rim Khong village in Wiang Kaen district.

Freight train derails
Nine empty trucks derailed as a freight train travelling from Nong Khai to Nakhon Ratchasima approached Non Sung station on the night of October 17.
The train was returning to Nakhon Ratchasima after delivering gravel to Nong Khai. Police were informed of the derailment at about 9:25 pm. There were no injuries reported.
Train services between Bangkok and Nong Khai were halted until the morning of October 18.

Flash flood
Water causes damage
Heavy rains caused flooding in Nakhon Ratchasima. It happened on October 19. The flood damaged factories, roads and vehicles. One factory was submerged under one meter of water. No injuries and deaths were reported.
