In the new science fiction film Ender’s Game, a gifted 12-year-old is trained to become Earth’s ultimate military leader.
After a devastating attack by the insect-like aliens known as Formics, the people of Earth have spent years readying themselves for a repeat attack by nurturing a new generation of child geniuses to be trained as warriors using advanced computer simulations. Bright youngsters are selected to attend Battle School, an orbiting space station where they compete for a chance to become a commander of the International Forces.
Trainee Ender Wiggins (Asa Butterfield) soon stands out with his unique combination of intelligence and empathy in the classroom and in the zero-gravity Battle Room, where futuristic laser games test the trainees’ physical abilities.
School commander Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) singles out Ender in order to hone his leadership skills, and Ender is soon promoted to command school. Under the tutelage of General Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), Ender is trained to lead his fellow students in simulated war games.
Certain that a Formics attack is imminent, Graff and Rackham believe they have only weeks to prepare Ender to lead the International Fleet in a battle for planetary survival.
