Top Music Makers Solo Singers
Bie The Star
Sukrit Wisetkaew (Bie) came into the spotlight when he came second in the 2006 The Star contest. Since then, the 23-year-old artist has shown remarkable improvement in every aspect of music performance. Bie's albums always contain pop classics like the recent smash hit "Hug."
Bie's popularity grew even more when he started acting in TV dramas and performing live concerts. Last year, he performed two sold-out solo concerts at Impact Arena, so get your tickets early for the Bie Love Mak Mai Concert this July.
Chin
With his training in the GMM G-Junior young artist development programme, 19-year-old Chinawut Indracusin (Chin) has a solid background in singing and dancing. With his emotive voice and skillful dance moves, it's not surprising that Chin's 2007 album Chin Up was a smash.
In 2008, Chin impressed his fans with a new bad-boy image for his second album, Maybe I'm Bad. Chin also gained quite a following in Malaysia after shooting a TV commercial there and performing in the Malaysian TV drama, Love 18. Chin's local fans are hoping that the show is aired in Thailand sometime soon.
Ice
Known as the Prince of Smile in Japan, upbeat superstar Sarunyu Winaipanit (Ice) easily makes the SW top solo singers list. Ice released his self-titled debut album in 2006, and became a pop phenomenon when his hit song "Khon Jai Ngaai (Easy to Fall in Love)" was translated in several languages including Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
Ice is a fantastic live entertainer, and he has performed at many Asian music festivals. In 2008, he took part in the Asia Song Festival in South Korea, along with artists like TVXQ, Fahrenheit and Agnes Monic.
Film
Rattapoom Tokongsup (Film) admits that he's not the greatest singer around, but as he recently pointed out in Student Weekly, "I always sing from my heart."
Film said that he will never stop trying to improve his singing skills. He's also a decent rapper and an excellent dancer, both of which add to his onstage charisma.
At just 25 years of age, Film already has four albums out. The busy star also finds time to do some great charity work as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, building houses for underprivileged people around the world.
Tor+
Saksit Vejsupaporn (Tor+) is more than just a teen idol with a pretty face. The 24-year-old artist is a terrific pianist, singer and producer. When he was younger, Tor+ turned down an offer to join a boy band because he wanted to be a serious musician.
Last year, Tor+ won the MTV Thailand Favourite Artist award for his second album, Living in C Major, and his hit song, "Rak Thoe (Love You)." With his recent album Munk?, Tor+ took on the K-pop trend by creating T-pop, mixing traditional Thai instruments into his sound. Tor+ recently started studying Chinese languages to prepare for more international success. - SC
