Taeyang, who first become known to K-pop fans as a member of superstar boy band Big Bang, is back with his second solo album, Rise. It has been four years since the release of Taeyang’s first solo album, Solar, which went to the top of the Canadian iTunes charts.
As with his previous album, the music on Rise is influenced by American R&B combined with other types of pop music. Of the album’s nine songs, “Eyes, Nose, Lips” is a highlight. It’s a nice slow song that presents Taeyang’s fabulous singing voice well. The song also has a nice piano part which helps Taeyang to express the emotional lyrics perfectly.
Taeyang helped to write some of the songs on Rise, and the entire album is an enjoyable listen. Taeyang’s female fans will also be happy to hear that the singer looks great in the photos that accompany this release. — VH
