The 1975 are a little different to other bands. With their good looks and trendy clothes, they look like a boy band. Their music is definitely pop, with big singalong choruses and expensive production, but their lyrics are very different to those of One Direction.
Frontman Matt Healy's honest and clever lyrics cover the downsides of being famous, from love and relationships to his drug problems. The single "Love Me" sounds like a hit from 1985 and shows the new style of the band. Like the Thai band Polycat, most of the many tracks on this long album have a strong ‘80s electronic flavour.
Matt Healy clearly spent a lot of time on his lyrics, which are sometimes serious and sometimes silly. If you spend a lot of time listening to the album you'll learn a lot about him, or you can just enjoy the mix of fun pop music and sad songs. -- GB
