Singular star goes solo

After breaking away from the duo Singular, singer-songwriter Tossaporn Achawanuntakul (Sin) went solo, and Melancholy is his first album. For this album, Sin has written songs about his own life, including hit track "Reuang Jing (True Moments)," which here is presented in an orchestral version.
Album opener "Goodbye" features piano and a sharp drum beat to accompany lyrics about the end of a relationship. "Pleng Rak (Unreleased)" is another song featuring piano, with a violin added to reinforce the sad mood. Another sad song on the album is the pop tune "Yak Yoo Kon Dieow (Leave Me Alone)," while the ballad "Chan Pen Krai Sam Rab Ter (Who Am I to You)" is about somebody who is unsure about their relationship.
One track that stands out as sounding different from the other songs on the album is "Laew Tae (UP2U)," with music full of electro beats, synthesiser textures and the sound of swinging finger snaps. "Tam Chan Ma (Follow Me)" has more piano, electronic sounds and some soulful, spellbinding singing from Sin.
On all seven songs on this album, Sin conveys powerful emotions and feelings of sadness well with his singing. Listeners who like Singular should definitely be impressed with Melancholy. — SK
