A stormy marriage with attempts at reconciliation mixed with heated arguments have led police to question family members in the investigation of the murder of former national shooting team member Jakkrit Panichpatikum.

Cops zero in on family link killing motive

Police are zeroing in on family conflicts as the motive for the murder of former national sports shooter Jakkrit Panichpatikum.
Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang said yesterday that investigators were not convinced Jakkrit's conflict with the Thai shooting association was relevant
They have also ruled out his involvement in the lucrative amulet trading business.
"No conclusion has been reached on who ordered the killing, but family conflicts appear to be the remaining issue " Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit said.
"However, more evidence must be found to support this theory "
The MPB chief said some of the family members of Jakkrit's wife, Nitiwadee Pucharoenyos, had been summoned for questioning and they had cooperated well.
Asked whether Dr Nitiwadee was involved in the murder Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit said he did not know, but affirmed she too had cooperated well when she was interviewed on Saturday.
He stressed the four air force officers hired to provide security for Dr Nitiwadee were not murder suspects They have been asked to supply leads in the case, he said.
Air force spokesman AVM Monthon Sutchukorn confirmed that the investigators had contacted the Office of the Don Muang RTAF Base Commander for permission to interview the officers.
Jakkrit was gunned down on Oct 19 in his black Porsche Boxster near Ramkhamhaeng Soi 166 in Min Buri district.

According to an MPB source a witness told investigators that Jakkrit had heated arguments with his wife in the week before he was killed.
Dr Nitiwadee's relatives knew about the couple's fallout and tried to convince her not to try and repair the relationship the source said.
Jakkrit was angered by this and confronted these family members, the source said.
