The Joker shakes up Gotham City

The Dark Knight is the follow-up to the action hit Batman Begins, once again teaming up director Christopher Nolan with Christian Bale as the caped crusader.

Batman sets out to destroy organised crime and corruption in Gotham City for good. But he soon discovers that the void he created by ridding the city of criminals in Batman Begins is now being filled by an even more sinister enemy.

This time around, Batman finds himself battling the Joker (Heath Ledger), an evil criminal mastermind who is causing chaos and destruction in Gotham.

With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman must defeat the twisted and wicked Joker. At the same time, Batman must stay in control and avoid crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
