In brief: The son of former Formula One world champion Keke Rosberg, Nico Rosberg started racing karts at the age of 11. By 2002, he was racing in German Formula BMW.

In 2005, Rosberg raced in the ART Grand Prix and won the newly created GP2 title, becoming the first driver to do so. Rosberg moved up to Formula One in 2006, racing with Williams-Toyota. In the 2006 Bahrain Grand Prix, Rosberg broke a world record as the youngest driver to set the fastest lap.

Rosberg made headlines on November 23, 2009 when he replaced World Formula One champion Jenson Button to become the new driver for the new Mercedes GP team.
