Well, this is it, my final Editor's Note for Student Weekly magazine. I've been working for this great publication for almost nine years now – about eight of those a Sub-Editor and Deputy Editor, and about one as the Editor. It must have been an enjoyable bunch of years since it seems to have flown by in half the time.
While living and working in Thailand I've certainly learned a lot, made plenty of great friends and had some unforgettable experiences, both good and bad, but mostly good (at least it's the good ones that I remember most). Living in Bangkok is never boring and can provide endless inspiration for writers and artistic types. It's not always the most comfortable place to live, but that's partly what makes it so inspiring and interesting.
While I've loved living in Thailand and working for Student Weekly, you have to know and act when the time is right for a change, and for me that time has definitely come. I'm looking forward to the challenge of new work, new people and places, new experiences and, especially, different types of weather!
Taking over the (extremely uncomfortable and ergonomically unsound) editor's chair here at Student Weekly will be Gary, who has done a great job as Sub-Editor over the past year. I'm sure he'll do a great job of leading the team in continuing to provide all the content you know and love, as well as bringing in whatever exciting changes develop in the future.
So thanks for reading, keep reading, and good luck with whatever the future brings!
