Jellyfish kills woman
A jellyfish attacked a tourist on Phangan Island in Surat Thani province on July 31.Chayanan Surin, a 31-year-old woman from Bangkok, was stung and killed by a jellyfish while swimming in the ocean on July 31.
The jellyfish stung Chayanan at around 8 pm when she was in the water with three friends.
She went into shock shortly after and was taken to a nearby clinic. She died on the way to Phangan hospital, where she was being taken for further treatment.

Myanmar welcomes Thais
Thailand and Myanmar signed an agreement on July 28, allowing passport-holders of both countries to make free visa visits of up to 14 days, Foreign Minis¬ter Tanasak Patimapragorn said.
Speaking at a meeting in Chiang Mai, Tanasak said the agreement is aimed at boosting ties between the two countries, especially in tourism and trade.
“The free visas reflect greater cooperation between two countries and will promote tourism and trade,” Tanasak said. “But they are only available through flight travel at this stage.”

Man slays dogs
A man shot dead two stray dogs. It happened in Surat Thani, police said on July 28. The man was angry that the dogs killed his chickens. He was arrested for breaking the law.
