The movie is based on the 2012 book Hanachan no Misoshiru.

Hana's Miso Soup is based on the true story of a teacher, Chie (Ryoko Hirosue), who has breast cancer. After Chie hears the diagnosis, her boyfriend Shingo (Kenichi Takito) shows his support by asking her to marry him. Despite being told that the cancer treatment will leave her unable to have children, they have a daughter, Hana (Emina Akamatsu). The cancer then spreads through Chie’s body and she has only one year to live. She begins to teach Hana life skills, including how to cook Japan’s traditional miso soup.

Enjoy this tear-jerking movie in cinemas from March 17.
