Did you know
The Kamikaze label started in 2007.
Since the video for her latest single, “Rak Mai…Pood (Love Love Me?)” garnered more than 700,000 views on YouTube in less than a week, new singing sensation Sinchanok Klaitae (Thank You) has been following in the footsteps of teen pop stars like Waii Panyarisa and Neko Jump.
Although only 17 years old, Thank You has already spend several years taking part in numerous dancing and singing contests, as well doing some modelling and acting work. Before long, Thank You signed with celebrated teen pop label Kamikaze. She has released four successful singles to date, including her latest hit, “Love Love Me?.” Thank You will soon release her debut mini album, Thank You So Much.
Student Weekly recently caught up with Thank You at the Kamikaze office to chat about her new single, her upcoming album and her love of music and dancing.
Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your new single?
Thank You: Like my previous singles, “Love Love Me?” is based on electronic dance music that makes people want to move. The beat of this song is a bit heavier than on my previous singles because we wanted to add a rock element into the sound.
The lyrics are about asking a boy whether or not he’s interested in going on a date. It reflects the relationships of modern teenagers, who tend to be clear and direct without wasting time. [Laughs.]
Student Weekly: What did you do before becoming a singer with Kamikaze?
Thank You: I’ve always been interested in music and performance. I started taking dance and singing lessons when I was 6 years old, and I took part in many competitions when I was growing up. I’m fortunate that my parents have always supported me. I won the Ole Cutie Girl Contest in 2012, and from that I attracted interest from Kamikaze.
Student Weekly: Who are some of your favourite Kamikaze artists?
Thank You: I’m really pleased to be with Kamikaze. When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Neko Jump, Four Mod and Waii Panyarisa. I’m so proud to now be friends with them. I’ve learned so many things from them. I’m working really hard to one day be as good they are.
Student Weekly: Do you have any details about your upcoming album?
Thank You: It will be a mini album called Thank You So Much, and it will feature the singles I’ve released so far along with some extra tracks. It should be released in digital formats first, with CDs probably following sometime in the future.
Student Weekly: Do you have any musical idols?
Thank You: For singing and dancing, I look up to Beyoncé. She’s a fabulously gifted entertainer. Everything she does is cool. Another one of my favourite artists is Ariana Grande. I admire her a lot because she started at around the same age as me, but she’s more talented and successful. I really love her music and style. I hope I can do that style of music on my next album.
Student Weekly: Besides the release of your mini album, what can fans expect from Thank You over the coming months?
Thank You: I’ll take part in the Kamikaze anniversary concert on October 4 at Royal Paragon Hall. It’s going to be one of Kamikaze’s biggest events, with seven stages and all of the label’s artists performing. Kamikaze fans should definitely not miss this amazing event!
Student Weekly: Do you have any advice for teens who want to become professional singers?
Thank You: If you love singing or acting, then show other people what you can do. There are so many ways to present your talents and show off your skills nowadays, like taking part in competitions or posting stuff on the Internet. If you keep working hard, your talent will eventually be noticed.
