A young teacher named Isabel De La Cruz (Ana de Armas) appears in a photograph that is among the limited evidence found by New York City Detective Scotty Galban (Keanu Reeves) as he investigates the murder of his partner.
As Galban moves closer to solving the crime, he comes to believe that Isabel may be a witness to the murder. Things become further complicated when the strongly religious Isabel experiences strange occurrences after witnessing what she believes is a miracle.
