Read the following story by Duangphat Sitthipat from the Bangkok Post. Then, answer the questions that follow.

People become great cooks for a reason. Some have culinary school training or are born with talent or an outstanding palate. Others inherit the skills from their parents who have their own secret recipes. Others are able to cook because they follow cookbooks.

EVERYDAY IDEAS

If cooking from cookbooks is what you do, chances are you will know Englishman Jamie Oliver, one of the most famous cooking personalities in the world, who has written many books and performed on many television shows. Oliver inspires people to enjoy cooking from scratch and using fresh ingredients.

His latest book is titled Everyday Super Food. Like the title suggests, the book contains recipes made from the best ingredients - those that promise to make you happier, healthier and more productive.

MIX AND MATCH

To write this book, Oliver went on a journey through the world of health and nutrition. He did research by mixing and matching wholesome ingredients and coming up with recipes that taste good and make your stomach happy. Oliver says it’s the most personal book he has ever written.

There are different sections in the book, with chapters entitled Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Drinks and Live Well. All of the recipes chosen to be in the book are detailed and contain information about calorie intake. The vivid, mouthwatering illustrations make you fall in love with the book just by looking at it.

ROUND THE CLOCK

For the Breakfast chapter, there are a number of recipes that can be prepared quickly including magic poached egg, smooth pancakes and Mexican pan-cooked brekkie.

In the Lunch chapter, recipes include skinny carbonara, orange garden salad and hot smoked trout.

The recipes in the Dinner chapter take more time to prepare and they include seared golden chicken, golden chicken skewers and Asian steamed fish.

The Snacks and Drinks chapter presents you with appetisers and refreshments you can make to accompany your meal.

LIVE WELL

The last chapter, Live Well, contains everything you need to know about food. It will make you appreciate what you put in your stomach. It talks about why you shouldn’t be afraid of fat, why you are better off with organic food and how you should change the way you shop for groceries.

You will love food even more after you read this book!
