The well-known a cappella movie Pitch Perfect has a new sequel and soundtrack album, Pitch Perfect 2. Along with the group Barden Bellas, the album features top pop guests like Jessie J and Snoop Dogg.
Once again the Barden Bellas take our breath away with just their voices and creative mash-ups. For example, they have smoothly mashed together the Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus songs “Timber” and “Wrecking Ball.”
The poignant ballad “Flashlight”, written by Sam Smith and Sia, is one of the album's highlights. Also featured is a new version of “Cups (When I’m Gone),” the famous song from the original film.
For fans of a cappella, this is a truly inspiring gem. For fans of the film, it serves as a memento. And for everybody else, it’s well worth a listen. With only their voices as instruments, this package shows Barden Bellas’ pure talent. Like they sing in “Cups,” we’re going to miss them when they’re gone.
