Key plays a main character in the musical drama, In the Heights.
Shinee is one of the few top K-pop groups whose members can all sing and dance well. They also have unique voices which distinguishes them from other groups. Seven years after their debut, the five-member group finally fulfilled the hopes of Thai fans by holding their first solo concert, Shinee World IV, in Bangkok.
Shinee briefly met with the Thai press and some lucky fans at a press conference held before their Impact Arena concert. The guys — leader and vocalist Onew, 25, vocalist Jonghyun, 25, dancer Key, 24, rapper Minho, 23, and dancer Taemin, 22 looked attractive in their white outfits.
THAI TIMES
Minho said he felt excited for the concert in Thailand because Shinee have been waiting for it for a long time. The guys also said that the music video for the single "View," from their latest album Odd, was filmed in Thailand. Key explained that they chose Thailand as a location because the song suited the atmosphere here.
When the guys were asked where they would like to visit, Onew picked Krabi because he had good memories about once filming a TV programme there and he wanted to return. Jonghyun said he personally liked Bangkok, and every member said they enjoyed Thai massages.
BIG BUDGET
Shinee’s concert had everything fans of the Korean label SM Entertainment could expect. Big-budget videos opened the show and played while the group changed clothes or had a short break. The stage production had well-designed lasers, lights and moving stages that could rise up to reach fans on the upper floors. But the best thing about the show was Shinee.
BREATHLESS ACT
The group had endless energy to entertain their fans. Their opening set was superb with non-stop dynamic hits, including "Sherlock," "Shine," "Stranger" and "Picasso." They were sweating and out of breath while talking to fans, but their energy during the show never dropped. The ballad section, which featured beautiful songs like "One," "Selene 6.23" and "An Ode to You," blew the audience away with the group’s mellow singing and great harmonies.
COLOURFUL MOMENT
The Thai fan club, Shinee World, barely sat still and often got up to dance and sing. The fans were happy to see Shinee write down the lyrics of the song "An Ode to You" in Thai and show their handwriting on the big screens. The group were also pleased that Shinee World had prepared some special items for them. Jonghyun said he noticed that the fans held colourful light sticks during the song "Colorful” and he asked them to show the sticks again, making the fans happy.
HEARTFELT ENCORE
During the last song, “An Encore,” the fans held up cards with special messages. Some cards said “Thank you for coming,” and others said “Please come back again. It doesn’t matter how long it will take. We will wait for you.” Shinee read the messages and Taemin and Minho gave a thumbs up to the fans. Onew said that if everybody will wait for them, they will come back here. He also said Thailand and South Korea weren't far apart, as it takes only six hours for a flight.
BIRTHDAY GIFT
Before the show ended, the guys and Shinee World sang “Happy Birthday” to Key. Key was happy and reminded the fans that five years ago they were in Thailand on his birthday too. Minho put his hands in his pockets and said he had prepared a gift for Key. Then, he took his hands out and made a heart shape for Key. The other members did the same thing and Key couldn’t stop smiling. Onew and Minho made fans laugh when they pretended to get emotional by pouring water on their faces to look like they were crying. The band wrapped up the show by giving a thumbs up to thank Shinee World.
