Editors Note

Welcome back to school and welcome back to Student Weekly. Mind you, if weve been doing our jobs properly, youve never been away.

Our mission is to make a magazine that you really cant do without, whether its the school term or vacation time. You see, we aim to make Student Weekly more than just something your teacher gives you for English class. Student Weekly is about lifestyles; your lifestyle, in fact. And part of your lifestyle is probably learning English, whether you know it or not.

Every day, were bombarded with English in books and newspapers, on TV, in music, in movies, on websites and in countless other ways. Its our job at Student Weekly to help guide you through the maze of information to what really counts practical English thats fun to learn. Yes, grammar and vocabulary are important, but do you really want to be fumbling over verb tenses when all you really want to do is communicate? No, I thought not.

So Student Weekly is designed to give readers something interesting and exciting to read and talk about, whether its a story, a column or just a simple picture caption. And as soon as youre reading, youre absorbing grammar and structure without even knowing it. Easy! This is why Student Weekly should be the must-have at the top of your reading list whatever the time of year.

So whats changed since we last met? Well, nothing really. No redesigns, no new columns, no change of name (yet). Our attitude is that if it isnt broken, dont fix it and Student Weekly is probably at its peak performance right now.

Thats not to say that were perfect, of course. In our posh offices that overlook the Bangkok Post news room (our bosses know their priorities), the Student Weekly mailbox is constantly brimming with emails and letters from students and teachers, but we want more! If youd like to see anything different in Student Weekly, or even just have your picture in our letters page, get scribbling. After all, Student Weekly is your magazine.

Happy reading!
