In 2001, terrorists crash two passenger airliners into the World Trade Center in New York City and another into the Pentagon in Virginia. A fourth hijacked plane crashes in the Pennsylvania countryside when the passengers attempt to regain control from the hijackers. In total, nearly 3,000 people are killed.
