Editor's Note
While I was working at my first real newspaper job, I developed a friendship with one of the weekly columnists. Every Monday afternoon, she'd wander over to my desk in the production department and start up an amiable conversation about whatever seemed to be on her mind. She was cute and perky and always had something to chat about.
