Movies

  • Action all-stars

Following on from the hugely popular all-star 2010 action movie The Expendables is The Expendables 2, directed by Simon West.

  • Yes, no and maybe

The 2010 romantic lesbian movie Yes or No was a massive success internationally, especially in China and Taiwan. It’s not surprising, then, that the studio decided to follow it up with a sequel.

Music

  • Ooh’s blues

Wasit Mookdavijit (Ooh), former singer of local alternative rock legends Crub and Day Tripper, has been gracing stages all over town lately. Apart from rocking out with his solo project Ooh & The Ballyhoo, Ooh has been seen jamming with The Jukks and singing with indie pop band Poomjit.

  • Polycat pop

Popular bands from Chiang Mai like ETC, A Cappella 7 and Mild seem to have one thing in common — they all make catchy pop music with beautiful lyrics and sweet melodies. Polycat are a little different from their fellow Chiang Mai bands in that their music is a Thai take on synthpop.

  • Peck’s party

Whenever local music fans vote for their favourite Thai pop singers, Palitchoke Ayanaputra (Peck) is always near the top of the list. The soulful singer stayed popular even when he had a four year hiatus before releasing his latest album, Let’s Move.
