Your heart beats faster, your palms become sweaty and you feel dizzy. It can only mean one thing: a crush. It could be your cute English teacher or a handsome high school senior that you think about all day and dream about all night. Crushes can happen to anyone at anytime and there�s no way of escaping them.

Even superstars get crushes. In a recent interview with Student Weekly, �Superstar� singer Jamelia confessed that she had her first crush when she was 15 years old. The crush was so intense it was like an obsession.

At 23 years old, Jamelia has gone from having crushes, to singing about them on her single �Superstar.� Inspired by her teenage crush, the lyrics reveal a girl who is trying to understand the feelings that she has for a guy.

The singer goes on to talk to the guy. She could be talking to him directly or imaging what she�d like to say to him if she had the chance. It�s not uncommon for people not to tell the person they have a crush on how they

truly feel.

The singer says that if it feels right when they both meet, they should take things further: �Let�s keep it moving/ And if it�s good let�s just get something cookin�/ Coz I really wanna rock with you.� To get something cooking is means to get something started, in this case their relationship. She already believes she has a connection with the guy, which would suggest she is confident that they have potential as a couple.

Superman

The chorus of the song goes on to reveal why the singer thinks that this guy is a superstar when she sings: �Coz you got all eyes on you no matter where you are.� What the singer means by this is that everyone looks at this guy when they see him in the same way that people stare at celebrities when they see them in real life.

The scene of the song then changes as the singer enters a club, disco or party. The singer thinks that the guy is a great dancer and then begins to dance herself. All the while, the singer has a feeling that the two of them will see each other again, maybe even later that night.

She invites him to make his move, which means to hit on her. The singer is basically flirting with the guy to get what she wants � him. She�s successful, and they begin to dance together. It won�t be long before the singer finds out for sure if her guy really is a superstar or just a super letdown.
