LETTER OF THE WEEK

PROUD OF THE POET

June 26 is one of the most important days in Thailand because it is Sunthorn Phu Day. Sunthorn Phu is Thailand's greatest poet. He was honoured by UNESCO in 1986.

I am a native of Rayong, and I'm proud to be here in tambon Gram, where the Sunthron Phu monument is located. It is my duty to help promote this great day to all, especially students around the country.

Please come and join us at the Sunthorn Phu monument on this special day. You'll see our school's exhibition about the life and work of Thailand's greatest poet and see what life in our country was like 225 years ago.

Supoj Jaraswimol,
Rayong

Thank you for the great letter about Thailand's most famous poet, Supoj. I think it's great that people all over the kingdom have a special day to honour this legendary writer. I'm also happy that kids here are exposed to the arts through such a famous person. Have a great time at the exhibition. - Editor

COURT DREAMS

My nickname is Shene. I've always dreamed of being a professional tennis player.

I have played in many tournaments. Sometimes I am afraid of my opponents, but when I win I feel proud of who I am and happy that I am not somebody else.

Shene Neetichow,
Bangkok

I hope that your tennis dreams are working out for you so far, Shene. Finding something to be passionate about is an important part of having a full and happy life. Whether it's the arts, academics or sports, you're never wasting time if you're devoting time to something truly worthwhile. Good luck on the court. - Editor

EYES ON ACTING

Hi, my nickname is Aut. I really like Sunday. I think everybody likes it, but maybe some people don't.

We like it because it's holiday time, and we can spend time relaxing. Most families are probably at home watching television.

I really like the comedy called Baan Ni Me Rak because it's funny, joyful and entertaining. My dream is to be an actor, but I am too young to think about it now. I will do the best that I can, but I'm not sure about one thing. Most actors don't wear glasses. But, anyway, now I'm still a child.

Autthawut Siribunsuk,
Bangkok

I don't think that you need to be too worried about wearing glasses, Aut. There are lots of actors out there who wear glasses - a lot of them are even famous. Don't let a physical challenge as small as bad eyesight keep you from dreaming big. What's in your heart is much more important than what's on your face. Unless what's on your face is a beard made of bees. That might take precedence. - Editor
