Opening in cinemas on February 2 is An Ordinary Love Story, a heart-warming new romantic comedy produced by Magical Love studio.
The film is about a couple who are preparing to have their wedding on a beach. When their friends and families gather to help the wedding run smoothly, the scene it set for more love stories to begin.
An Ordinary Love Story stars musicians Watanyoo Niwattisaiwong (Ping), 29, and Kanitkul Nestbud (Praew), 27, as two young rivals who end up falling in love at the wedding.
Student Weekly recently caught up with Ping and Praew to hear all about the making of An Ordinary Love Story.
Student Weekly: Since both of you are musicians, what made you decide to act in this movie?
Ping: I used to play music with the director, Anupab Vipapornpan. One day he sent me a movie script to read. I like to support new Thai films, and I really loved the idea of this movie when I read the script. It reminded me of my own life.
Praew: I've been a fan of the director since when he was a songwriter. I thought that since he could write great songs, he should be able to write a really good movie plot, too.
Student Weekly: How did your first acting experiences go?
Ping: Pretty well, actually. My character in the film isn't too complicated, so it didn't require great acting skills. I just tried to do my best.
Praew: Me too. I decided to take the part because there were other first-time actors in the film. It was less stressful than working with really experienced actors on my first movie.
Student Weekly: Can you tell us more about your characters in the film?
Praew: I play a girl named Ploy who comes to help and take photos at her friend's wedding party in Hua Hin. She meets Tum, played by Ping, for the first time and they start out by hating each other! [Laughs.] They keep arguing throughout the movie, but at the same time they develop a crush on each other.
Ping: My character Tum has just broken up with his girlfriend, so he's not ready for a new relationship when he meets Ploy. It's quite an awkward situation for him.
Student Weekly: What was it like working together in the movie?
Praew: Ping and I have been good friends for a long time. We even went to the same school, so working together was easy.
Student Weekly: How would you describe the perspective of love in An Ordinary Love Story?
Ping: In the movie, love is something that happens to you spontaneously. Sometimes you don't even notice it at first, which is similar to my personal experience. It's easy to fall in love with somebody that you spend a lot of time with. But when you grow up, you start to question whether that's really love or just admiration.
Praew: Everything about love in this movie is beautiful. Love makes you feel happy and can brighten up your day.
Student Weekly: Why should everybody go to see An Ordinary Love Story?
Praew: This is my first attempt at acting and I tried my best. I hope my fans enjoy the film and keep on supporting me.
Ping: The film also stars great actors like Billy Ogan and Sonia Couling. They haven't been in any films for a long time, so their fans definitely won't want to miss this movie.
