Editor's note

Somebody once said that a change is as good as a holiday, and while that's obviously not really true, change can at least help to keep things from getting too dull. The big change here at Student Weekly is the leaving of our Editor, Sean, the passing of the baton to me, and the welcoming of our new Sub-Editor, Gary.

Along with the position of Editor, I've inherited Sean's extremely uncomfortable chair and extraordinarily slow computer from which, along with the great motley crew that is the dedicated Student Weekly team, I'll endeavour to help keep bringing you the best weekly edutainment magazine that the Land of Smiles has to offer.

Our cover story this week is an interview with a young movie star named Paul Dano, who stars in a hot new biopic about Brian Wilson, the troubled but unusually gifted leader of legendary band the Beach Boys. Although the Beach Boys created most of their best music way back in the 1960s, much of their music has a timeless quality that continues to resonate with listeners and inspire musicians everywhere.

One of the Beach Boys' biggest hits back in the day was "California Girls," a song that surely must have inspired Katy Perry's more recent smash hit, "California Gurls." You can read all about Katy's recent Bangkok concert in this week's entertainment section. Incidentally, "California Gurls" features a cameo by veteran rapper Snoop Dogg, whose latest album is also reviewed in this week's edition of SW.

In addition to those stories, we have the lyrics of Nick Jonas' latest solo hit in Karaoke Korner, a Biographic about legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, and a story about a free and friendly international art project in Bangkok.

All-in-all it's another action-and-info-packed addition of Student Weekly. We're going to miss Sean, but we'll just have to keep on keeping on. Have a great week, and don't forget your umbrella!
